Social worker Todd Yordy will present "Changing Your Perceptions of Pain."

An estimated 46 million Americans are affected with some form of arthritis or rheumatic disease. Of these, three to six million are afflicted with fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that causes pain throughout the tissues - such as muscles, tendons and ligaments - that support and move the bones and joints. It is different from arthritis in that it does not cause inflammation or damage to the joints, muscles or tissues.

Both arthritis and fibromyalgia, however, can cause significant pain and fatigue, and can interfere with a person's ability to carry on daily activities. Considered rheumatic conditions, these tend to affect women more often than men.
