Samaritans Club Annual Meeting

Join Samaritans Club and Help Choose New Equipment Purchases for Our Local Hospital!

More than 15 years ago, the Samaritan Hospital Foundation (SHF) annual giving club, Samaritans Club, was founded to support our local hospital’s equipment needs. Every dollar members give is matched by SHF and 100% goes toward the purchase of new medical equipment, helping ensure the best care possible for patients.

This year, Club members continued their legacy of giving as they gathered in July to vote on where annual donations would best assist the hospital in improving patient quality of care. Included in those present were members of the Samaritans Club, the Caring Hearts, the Heart of Giving Circle, and hospital staff, which represent different levels of giving within the Samaritans Club.

After hospital managers thanked everyone for their generous support and presented their department’s needs, members were able to vote on their top choices for equipment items for purchase out of the Club’s $28,000 in dues, which was matched dollar-for-dollar by SHF.

Combined contributions from members matched by SHF totaled over $56,000 and allowed club members to purchase several important equipment items for the hospital, including: two Stryker carts designed specifically for eye surgery for the Perioperative Department; an EchoNous bladder scanner to allow the hospital to have two scanners to cover both locations where the scanner is currently needed; two vascular doppler devices for the Medical Surgical and ICU Departments for quick screening to assess blood flow in a patient’s extremities; a first for the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Department, a PhysioGait Dynamic Unweighting System, which allows therapists to focus on gait mechanics without having to support the patient’s body weight for rehab with Parkinson’s patients and other neurological conditions in children and adults; the Speech Therapy Department will receive a TIMS Software upgrade for storing barium swallow studies as videos vs individual frames, allowing for easier review and demonstration to patients when therapy is needed; and a Hoyer lift for the Radiology Department to help safely transfer immobile patients from wheelchair to examination table.

The Samaritans Club offers three membership levels: Individuals $100, Couples $150, Businesses $200, The Caring Heart $500, and The Heart of Giving Circle $1,000.

If you feel strongly about keeping quality medical care close to home for you and your loved ones, join forces with other supporters in our community through the Samaritans Club.
